As part of the Institute-Industry Interface, students of various departments visited a number of companies in different parts of the country in the month of September 2006. Thus the students were exposed to corporate practices while interacting with the managers.
Students of Personnel Management visited Mahindra & Mahindra, Raymonds, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Retail, Reliance Energy, and Godrej in Mumbai, Sabmiller, GMR and Intel in Banglore and JCB, Moser Baer, NTPC and Power Grid Corporation in Delhi during 19 September-2 October 2006. Prof S R Shauq and Mohit Spring led the students’ group in Delhi and Prof R K Biswas and Dr soumnedu Biswas led them in Mumbai while Sajeet Lakra guided them in Bangalore.
Students of Information Management visited Seimens, Scholastic, HP, Maruti Udyog, IBM Global, HCL Technology, HCL BPO, and Tech Mahindra in NCR Delhi (17-28 September 2006), Iflex, HCL BPO, IFB, Lason India in Chennai (19-24 September 2006) and HP, Wipro, Oracle, Alps etc. in Bangalore (25-29 September 2006), TCS, Godrej, Lupin, Digital, ICICI etc. in Mumbai (16-24 September2006) , and IBM, HSBS Global Solutions, Zensar etc. in Pune (25 September -1 October 2006). Mahua Banerjee led the students groups in NCR Delhi, Prof S N Singh led them in Chennai and Bangalore and Keny Thomas Lucas led them in Mumbai and Pune.

Director's Message
XISS Bulletin has been launched as an interactive forum for the students, alumni, faculty, corporate leaders, NGO leaders and other stakeholders for discussing pressing issues and concerns of corporate as well as social sector. This will serve as a platform of Institute-Industry Interface. I invite you to join the forum and send in your views and feedback and also share your experiences for the benefit of all.
As you may be aware, the year 2006 has been quite eventful for the Institute. Campus placement has improved manifold in terms of number of companies coming for recruitment, Compensation Packages and number of selections as reflected in the very first phase of Campus Recruitment Programme. The Institute has got a number of new faculty members drawn from industry as well as academia. They are young, energetic and innovative.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2007. I am sure, the festive season will rejuvenate you and New Year will bring abundance of joy and success.
